Arccos, golf's on-course tracking system, is the official game tracker of the PGA TOUR.
We selected Shipbook due to the exceptional clarity and user-friendliness of their SDK documentation. This enabled us to integrate their services swiftly and efficiently. In remarkably little time, we began observing console logs in near-real-time, achieving this with minimal effort. Shipbook has been instrumental in streamlining our feedback collection process, particularly from internal users. In the complex world of golf, where replicating user issues poses significant challenges, Shipbook's robust logging capabilities have been vital for addressing field reporting bugs. Its real-time logging feature is especially valuable. We can monitor the Shipbook console directly from our desks while our colleagues conduct live tests on the golf course, facilitating immediate communication and efficient problem-solving. Shipbook proved invaluable in addressing a specific challenge with our hardware device that occasionally requires firmware updates. Our internal tool categorizes users for the correct firmware, but discrepancies occasionally arise, placing users in incorrect buckets. This can lead to device malfunctions. Thanks to Shipbook, we can access real-time device logs, including firmware status and bucket information, during customer service calls. This immediate insight is a powerful asset in swiftly diagnosing and resolving user issues. Upon receiving a client-reported error, our process commences with an engineer conducting a triage to assess the issue's severity and frequency. If deemed significant, the engineer proceeds to categorize the error and identify its root cause. At this stage, Shipbook becomes an essential tool. It enables our engineer to analyze the logs preceding the incident. Shipbook's capability to display multiple instances of the issue from various users is particularly useful, as it aids in detecting patterns and expediting the resolution process.
